FM27 Beginner Guide
If you are new, start during the Launch Preview on PC or Mac, before 3 November 2026 at 18:00 GMT. The official note says the save carries forward, so a clumsy first fortnight is not thrown away. You do not need to pre-order to be in that window.
Pick a club whose players you already recognise. The preview is a bad time to learn both the interface and a league you cannot name. The portal still opens on messages, fixtures and the league table. Read the inbox before you open the tactic screen. FM26 taught people to hate the UI. FM27's dive says the navigation is clearer, and the stills show the six top sections. Give that layout a week before you install a skin.
Leave the tactic alone until you have looked at tactical effectiveness. That system, in the training dive, is about whether the squad has learned the shape. Training and tactical familiarity affect how well a squad executes a plan; the official deep dive does not say every formation change resets all progress. A 4-3-3 can wait until the tactics page, and it is a community shape, not homework.
Ignore wonderkid lists for the first month. FM Scout's October list is marked by them as a quick draft of ratings. Buying a 16-year-old because a spreadsheet said 94 is how new saves die. Do I lose my preview save?
The official note says it carries into the full game.
Should I download a tactic on day one?
No. Read tactical effectiveness first. A downloaded shape is optional later.
Which screen do I open first?
The portal: messages, the next match, and the league table. The official stills are labelled as a development build.
