FM27 Real Name Fix
Some clubs and competitions in Football Manager ship with placeholder names because the licence was not agreed. A real-name fix is a database edit that puts the familiar names back. For FM27, FM Scout and Sortitoutsi both had a real-name licence fix up by 30 October 2026. The FM Scout author says club and competition names work in existing saves; all other changes require a new save. That compatibility statement is single-source here because the Sortitoutsi page could not be independently read during this check.
It does not add a licence. The official licence posts are the Saudi league debut and the Arkema deal and the wider licence note. If a name is placeholder, the fix is a local edit. If a name is real, you do not need the fix for that competition. Installing it 'just in case' still means you must re-read the author's note after every official database update.
Logos are separate. A crest pack does not rename the club, and this fix does not draw the crest. Facepacks are a third folder. People stack all three and then blame the first one when the second was the mismatch.
FM Scout's Windows installation instructions (single source, checked 30 October): close FM27, extract the pack, keep auto-install.bat and its two .lnc files together, then run the included installer. It searches Steam, Epic and Xbox/Game Pass folders and asks for the game folder if it cannot find one. Back up the original files first. Mac and manual installation use the author's platform-specific database 2700 instructions; follow that exact versioned page rather than a path for another edition. Recheck the author after a database update.
Is the real-name fix official?
No. It is a community data update listed on FM Scout and Sortitoutsi.
Does it change kits?
No. It is names in the database.
Will it break my preview save?
FM Scout says club and competition names work in existing saves, while all other changes need a new save. This is single-source author guidance; back up files before applying changes.
